Health discovery in fashion magazine

Days ago I was zapping on Instagram and read something that was a huge and vital surprise for me. Glamour magazine posted a photo of Gigi Hadid's Twitter page with a link for a text explaining her hard time with "body shamming" and a health struggle. Well I never thought she was nothing less than a perfect supermodel, but I understood the symptoms.
It's so amazing what information can do for us. This is one of the reasons why I just love reading. Many years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease, which is an alteration in the thyroid. In Portuguese is called "tireoidite de Hashimoto", the suffix "ite" means the thyroid is inflamed, and Hashimoto was the doctor who discovered this. Well, at that time doctors told me there was nothing to be done about it. That it didn't exist a treatment for that cause it was neither hypo nor hyperthyroidism. No doctor told me the symptoms it causes.
So, for many years I've been struggling with my health having some symptoms that have been understood to be part of (well treated, thank God) depression: somatic symptoms and the most hindering for me was extreme fatigue. And then I read her post: she opened up about having Hashimoto's disease and told the symptoms she had suffered with. There they were, symptoms I didn't understand why I had them. Explained to me in fashion magazine! I am so thankful to her for talking about it. Next step is searching a doctor who knows about it and knows how to treat it. Medicine and science are always improving, constantly making new discoveries. Amen to that!
